I'd kill for a holiday
Good morning my dear readers. I hope all of you are doing
well. But unfortunately, I am not. Indeed, I personally consider it a miracle
that I’m still able to perform my normal bodily functions without throwing up.
There used to be a time when cannibalism, barbarism etc
dominated the human psyche, when humans used to eat up one another to sate
their hunger. But that time has been long gone and we humans have come a long
way since then. No longer do we kill each other, except verbally, in boardroom
meetings, depositions and trials at a court of law and so on and so forth. And
yet, it seems that our primitive instincts have taken over us again. Indeed ,
the recent killings and stabbings of young children in the state of Uttar Pradesh, that too, for a day’s holiday
or the postponement of exams are so gruesome, even to contemplate, that the
very thought of them makes my stomach churn.
To be precise, a young lad of class II was stabbed and had
had his throat slit by an elder boy of 16 years of age, all because the latter
wanted to avoid an exam he did not want to attend and the subsequent parent
teacher meeting after the exam. And in the second case, in Lucknow’s Brightland
School, Hrithik Kumar, a young lad of 7 years was stabbed repeatedly by an
elder girl of class VI, because, according to her, “the school would grant a
day’s holiday if he died”. The reason behind her statement was that the school
had a policy of granting a day’s holiday in case of the death of a student.
However, unlike the boy of class II, Hrithik was lucky as
he was able to attract a teacher’s attention by kicking the locked door (yes, the
girl had locked the girl after her deed and fled from the scene) with his feet.
The girl’s father, however claimed that the girl was being framed to protect
the real culprit, who “came from an influential family”, which is total
nonsense in my opinion. I mean, how legitimate does that statement sound?
Indeed, my friends, I must confess, the fact that these two
individuals could perform such heinous acts and that too, for such frivolous
reasons such as skipping an exam and wanting a holiday, is frightening and
bone-chilling, truth be told. Who knows, now lives might be taken, because
somebody refuses to purchase something from a shop keeper or because someone
forgot to pay the rent for their apartment or flat. Well, my friends that is
all I have to say on or about this topic. Goodbye, and keep well.
