Friendships

The conversations have dwindled; the flames of those friendships now lie cold and unkindled,
It feels like yesterday when I had those conversations, yet many days, nay years have gone by, leaving behind only their cold and unfeeling sensations,
A joke here, a barb there, thus the conversations used to run, yet now I sit by my window, gazing at the setting sun,
Friendships which were once as free and transparent as a waterfall, now resemble China’s Great Wall,
I wish I could turn back time, for good are memories if the friendships are now barely worth a dime?
Alas, but such a journey is life, where gains and fulfillment are only obtained through strife,
So run the thoughts in my mind, but I must cast them aside and continue to grind so that happiness and solace do I find.
