Man vs Man
Ever since its inception, Nature intended competition as a means of survival and also as a means of establishing the pecking order or hierarchy among a particular species and also among members of different species.
No two member of a species ever killed each other without a genuine reason, such as if one of the members was threatening or challenging the might of the other, or if one of the members were endangering the lives of the other’s family etc or in similar conditions.
Killing was mainly done to sate the hunger of a species and not for any other practical or particular reason, such as when a deer would be hunted by a hungry tiger and also when a deer would be spared by a full tiger (that is, animals were killed only to sate the hunger of their predators).
However, the same cannot be said for the species who currently dominate the food chain, and who, occupy the highest position in the hierarchy at the moment, something which has been gradually sounding the death knoll for Nature and its lower placed occupants, because of the rampant and incessant butchering of those very unfortunate souls, even when some of them won’t be consumed or used in any way, save for their skin; and also because of the slaughter they carry out amongst their own species, all for highly redoubtable reasons, or indeed, preposterous reasons.
Yes, I am indeed referring to ourselves, that is, the Homo sapiens, as we are classified in our own classification system. Because we happen to be the only species on earth who take an almost vicious delight in breaking each other’s bones, and defending each other from, well, each other. I mean, if you consider how things originally were, then the ways things are now are fairly ridiculous, and simply un-natural. I mean, every time I look at our civilization and the way we live and mentally compare it to a jungle, frankly, the very thought unsettles me. In a jungle, the only chief dangers are predators like tigers and lions and the only chief needs are that of food, water and a shelter to sleep under or a home to sleep in for the night.
However, in our civilization, our chief dangers, are, ourselves, that is, human thieves or/and burglars, human kidnappers, human killers, human peace destroyers, war mongers etc. and the list goes on and on.
We develop, give birth to, and train anti-terrorist units, hostage rescue units, all police personnel, army men, etc, all so that we can protect ourselves, from other humans like us, and the reason happens to be the inventions we have given birth to, such as nerve gas, atom bombs, missiles, nuclear silos, guns and pistols, and also, other smaller reasons such as money; once again, a human invention and also something so elementary, that the actual reason it was created and instilled in us has lost all significance, because the natural conclusion of that naturally instilled thing (it is actually a feeling) results in the further choking of the Earth; I am referring to the desire to reproduce, of course.
But yes, getting back to the main topic, I would like to say that, frankly, I find the entire concept I have mentioned above quite ludicrous, because of the very fact: “Why do we need to protect ourselves from each other at all?” Why can’t we instead just live together in peace and harmony, and only indulge in excesses when required, and when I use the term excesses, I refer to everything that we indulge in, that is, excessive killing, excessive food production, excessive hoarding and stock-piling, and pretty much everything else that forms a part in our human spectrum. I mean, if it weren’t for stuff like money, and other human inventions, we would not have any of the organizations that we do to combat problems borne out of these factors, (that is, the CIA, the NSA etc) and the organizations the CIA and the NSA combat.
I won’t deny that we have advanced a lot in many ways, and yet, at this particular junction, the negative effects of our advancement are becoming much more visible, and the world is gradually getting choked.
I would like to conclude by saying that, instead of constantly being at each other’s throats all the time, we should just learn to live and let live.
