Hey you- A love story like no other..

It was a clear summer morning in the month of June. There were no clouds in the sky and it made the sky resemble the Bay of Bengal near the Andaman Islands. I remember the day well (it was the 10th of June), for it was when I had met her.
When I looked into her eyes, it was as if Time itself had stopped moving, and the entire world had come to a standstill, for it seemed as if I had found someone who my soul had known before. Such was her effect on me that I remained transfixed to the spot, unable to move.
It was only when my friend tapped me on the shoulder that I jolted back to reality.
“So, what or who was looking at like that? You looked like a teenager again”, he said, looking at me quizzically.
“Oh, that. It was nothing, really. I was just thinking about something else entirely, to be honest”.
“Really? Look, man, I’ve known you since we wore diapers okay? So, don’t try to fool me. It’s cool if you don’t want to share but don’t at least lie”.
I did not reply to that, because I did not want him to ridicule me because I felt that despite being my best bud, he would ridicule me if he knew the real reason for my emotions.
I tried putting this affair out of my mind, and did not think about it for the next couple of days, until miraculously, I managed to see her again, and this time, I actually brought her home. Mind you, I was slightly apprehensive about my parents’ reception to her, because they didn’t exactly approve of such things, to be honest.
But mercifully, they raised no objection; not even my mother said anything and as any self-respecting guy knows, if your mother approves of your choice, then, trust me, it’s akin to having the Prime Minister’s seal on your life, which means, complete immunity from everything.

So, after getting her approval, she moved in with us and became a member of our family. We had a lot of fun together, and time seemed to be fly when we were together. Be it going on long walks to secluded places where nature abounded, or be it eating out of each other’s hands and having each other for company when we went to bed, we were very happy with other and so were my parents.
She was always there for me even when no one else was, and also, she was an incredibly loyal person, the kind of person you could trust your life with (quite literally, on one occasion).
Now of course, as with everything, there were some downs too, as she had a tendency to be moody on occasion, sometimes, without a reason. On other occasions, she would deliberately misplace my things in a fit of rage or just shout at me, and I would reciprocate in an equal manner.
But on balance, we had quite a wonderful time, a time which I shall never ever forget, till my dying breath.

A decade later, however, all these happy times came back to an end, for she had caught a viral infection, which she never recovered from. We took her to the doctor, and gently, he consoled us by saying that she didn’t have long to live.
Well, not much remains to be said, for exactly, three weeks after that visit, she passed away, in my arms. The pain all of us experienced at her passing was nothing like we had ever experienced.
The next day, as we were returning from the cemetery, I happened to see someone, who resembled her to a great degree. As I kept looking at her, my heart crying in pain, she looked at me too, almost exactly like Adele (yes, that was her name, the name of my love who I have described above) had, when I had first seen her. As I continued looking at Adele’s near likeness, she suddenly came bounding towards me and put her paw in my hand. “Woof!”. It was the best sound I had heard that day.
P, S – this is purely a fictional tale. Any resemblance to any of the characters, either living or dead, is purely coincidental and accidental.
