The Fire Within
Good afternoon my dear readers, I admit it has been a long
hiatus, but I must say I am glad to be back.
So today, we are going to be talking about something whose
existence is mostly debated by people across the world.
This particular ‘thing’ goes by many names, such as ‘praana’,
‘akaasa’, ‘chi’ etc and so on. It is known to the average layman as the
soul, which, technically speaking is the indestructible body of energy which
essentially carries the life force of the person, or organism and so on. Of
course, to be able to function physiologically, any organism needs nostrils or
their equivalent to be able to breathe, and a beating heart to transfer oxygen
to all the parts of the body, but the essence of a person or organism is their
soul, which is believed to breathe life into the person or organism giving it
their individual characteristics, which distinguishes them from one another,
such as one person being a quiet one and another being a loud one etc and so
on.
Indeed, if one harks back to a particular portion of the
passage in The Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna is recorded as sermonizing to
Arjun that ‘’The Soul cannot be burnt by fire, The Soul cannot be drenched by
water, The Soul cannot be blown away by the wind, and The Soul cannot be
consumed by wind, thus, why fear the very possibility of death, when all your
soul will do is change bodies?”
Thus, we can say that the soul is essentially a body of
energy which gives us our individual properties and also adds essence to our
life. Indeed, it is the soul which I
have referred to above as the ‘The Fire Within’, for no matter what our element
(that is fire, water, wind or earth), all of our derive our purpose for living
from our soul, which ‘fires’ us up from within, stoking us to produce the right
measure of heat which serves as the fuel for us to keep moving on.
The reason I am
mentioning this particular thing or body, my dear readers is that all of us
need to draw on the power and energy of The Soul more than ever in today’s
world, which is gradually but surely becoming a world of technological advancement
never even dreamt or thought of by our ancestors, and a world which,
intentionally or otherwise, is moving towards dystopia, in the form of people
divided on the basis of their religion, their looks (a highly superficial and
insensitive way of doing so, etc ; a world where even basic resources like
water, air (yes, even air is becoming a precious commodity nowadays), etc are
soon going to be fought over in the days to come, and a world where robots will
replace humans, thereby removing what we know as the human factor.
In such times, where the 2020 seems to reflect the 1960s,
the 1970s etc in the form of uprisings against the reigning leadership,
gradually spiralling economy and where the ‘Truth has indeed become broken into
fragments’ and ‘crushed by narrow domestic walls, it has become even more
essential than ever to tap into the vast reservoir of power that is enshrined
in the deep vaults of our soul, and to rise up and fly, for my dear friends, when
the world outside grows too cold and harsh for you, search for the fire within
and when everything seems against you, and nothing seems right, search for the
fire within. Amen.
