Once Upon a Quarantine (by Pratyush Parasahar Das)
We took so many things for granted,
oh, times were good when they lasted,
As the streets slowly emptied and became graveyards of
desolation, it was then that this state of ours began, our period of isolation,
As the grills of our windows transformed into the bars of
our self-made prisons,
it seemed as if we were getting punished for our misuse of
Mother Nature’s resources in the previous seasons,
Forced us apart though this pandemic did, it brought many of
us closer than ever before
indeed, for families that had begun to grow apart, bridged
their gaps, and renewed their bonds of the heart,
Friends who had begun to loath each other’s presence,
finally understood each other’s essence,
Couples who had begun to bicker quietly started to have
picnics in the solace of their bedrooms,
with their food kept in baskets made of wicker,
And so, as the world healed itself in ways more than one,
the darkness suddenly seemed not so great, for the rush of fresh positivity, was
akin to the light of the sun.
DEDICATED TO ALL THE PEOPLE WHO ARE BRAVELY AND PATIENTLY
WAITING FOR THIS STORM TO TIDE OVER. HAVE
FAITH, EVERYONE, FOR AFTER ALL, ‘TIS SAID THAT FAITH CAN MOVETH MOUNTAINS,
AMEN.
