The Departure

 by Pratyush Parashar Das

As the once-vibrant streets fall silent,

The eerie calm recalls feelings of sadness and loss, seeming like a swan's lament

It's time to bid the Mother adieu, with eyes wet and hearts heavy,

Oh, the feeling of heaviness is that tax that we upon ourselves levy,

We hide our sadness behind cloaks of feigned indifference,

While our hearts tear themselves asunder, like storm-tossed sails thence,

And so we wait with hope and longing in our hearts for the Goddess to visit us again,

To usher in the light of joy and happiness, and drive away all pain.

Wishing all of you a happy Bijaya Dashami.

May the light of positivity conquer the darkness of negativity.
