The Adiyogi

His Destruction itself sows the seeds of Creation,

For a new forest is born only from the ashes of the one before,

His Presence is both like the ascetic silence of the mountains, filled with quiet wisdom, and like the sonorous sound of Om, the universal vibration,

He represents the office of the Adiyogi, the First Sage, who knows what comes after, and what came before, 

Ever generous is He with those who pray to Him with mind, body and soul, 

Due to which known as the Innocent is He, the untainted One with a soul both pure and whole, 

Known as the Mahadev by some, and Bholenath by other people, 

He sits on his impregnable mountain abode, marking the Dance of the Universe with his consort the Goddess Durga,

I bow down to Thee, O divine couple.
