Goodbye - the lamentation of a poet

- by Pratyush Parashar Das

One of the hardest things you can sometimes say is goodbye,

Because parts of your soul simply cling on, refusing to let go, but you know it's neccessary,

For you can ony reach someplace else, when you bid adieu to those golden fields of memories, as rich as plantations of wheat and rye,

As you begin the slow trudge towards your future and clear out the attic,

A fear grips you, and sadness takes hold, for will you be still whole after you do what needs to be done, oh the unimaginable torment and panic,

But such are the uncertain certainties of life, where letting go of what no longer serves you is what keeps you afloat,

The alternative being darkness that causes you to lose your senses and become catatonic,

And so it is that with a heavy heart, i bid you adieu, my long time ray of sunshine, I wish that in another lifetime, you were but mine
